Hi, I'm the author behind Newsgetic — a passionate writer and tech enthusiast with a deep interest in mobile technology, automobiles, and everything that moves fast.

So I swung by the Yamaha showroom yesterday to check out the 2025 MT-15, now priced at ₹1.69 lakh (ex-showroom). Not gonna lie, if you’ve seen or ridden the older model, this one feels pretty familiar — but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Design

Visually, it still carries that muscular, aggressive look — same sharp tank, same compact LED headlamp setup. The stance is upright and feels ready to pounce. Honestly, it still gives off that mini-MT-09 vibe. I’ve always liked its proportions, especially how it looks from the side. No wild changes here, just subtle refinements.

Features

What’s new is the fully digital LCD console with Bluetooth support. You can pair it with Yamaha’s app to get call alerts and a bit of ride info. There’s also dual-channel ABS now, which is great for safety — especially during monsoon months. Small changes, but useful.

Engine

Mechanically, it’s running the same 155cc liquid-cooled engine as before. If you’ve ridden the R15, this will feel very familiar. It’s got that Variable Valve Actuation (VVA), which makes acceleration nice and smooth. You’re not going to break speed records, but it’s quick enough to be fun around town.

Mileage

I asked the guy at the dealership, and he said most riders are getting around 45 km/l in the city. If you’re light on the throttle, you might see better. Personally, I’d say that’s decent for a bike that feels this sporty.

₹1.69 lakh isn’t cheap, especially when there are other 160cc bikes out there that are more affordable. But the MT-15 has that slightly more “refined” feel — the engine, the handling, even the fit and finish. If I had to pick between this and the Pulsar N160, I’d still lean toward the Yamaha just for how clean it feels on the road.

Final Thoughts

If you’re someone who mostly rides in the city and wants something light, stylish, and a little sporty, the 2025 Yamaha MT-15 still holds up. Not a huge leap forward, but the tweaks they’ve made do improve the overall package. Would I upgrade if I had the 2023 model? Probably not. But if you’re buying new — it’s worth a test ride.
