The Kia K5 caught my attention recently — it’s got this low, stretched-out look that feels a bit sportier than most sedans in its class. The front grille and headlights are sharp but not overdone, which I personally like. It’s not flashy, but it definitely has presence. In terms of features, the K5 checks most of the right boxes for a midsize sedan. You get a large touchscreen with smartphone connectivity, dual-zone climate control, and a solid list of safety tech like lane-keeping assist and automatic emergency braking. For the price, Kia tends to offer good value — but trim fitment issues like this are a bit disappointing.
Engine Options
The Kia K5 offers two engine choices, and both do a decent job depending on what you’re looking for. The base model comes with a 1.6-liter turbo, which isn’t super quick but feels smooth and efficient — perfect for everyday city driving or longer highway runs. If you’re after more punch, the GT version bumps things up with a 2.5-liter turbo engine that actually delivers a lot more power. I haven’t driven the GT myself, but from what I’ve seen and read, it feels noticeably quicker without being too aggressive. Personally, for most people just doing daily commutes or the occasional road trip, the standard engine should be more than enough.
Mileage
The mileage figures are respectable — around 27 mpg in the city and up to 37 mpg on the highway, depending on the variant. In real-world use, it should hold up pretty well for anyone who drives a mix of urban and highway routes.
Price
Pricing starts at just over $25,000, making it a competitive choice in the midsize segment. But with over 100,000 units recalled due to the window trim potentially detaching while driving, it’s worth double-checking the VIN if you’re planning to buy used.
